March 27, 2010
For the first time in 2010 we got sunshine, no
rain, and some warmer weather. The morning was a little cool,
but bearable. By mid day it was beautiful. We still needed a
jacket, but the sun was out, the sky was clear and the chill was
gone.
Seven members and a rider from Chapter 304 met at
QuikTrip and made their way to Mauldin SC for the SC Meet &
Greet. There they were joined by another 88 members from South
Carolina and North Carolina.
The SC Meet and Greet was
held in Mauldin, just this side of Greenville at the Olive Tree
Restaurant. The owner of Olive Tree close the restaurant to the public
and opened it to STAR. Good thing he did as 95 riders descended on the
place.
The food was great and the
gathering of STARs even greater. The SC folks put on a good event. There
was a 50/50...the winner walking away with almost $200. The Greenville
chapter hosted the event and after eating was mostly done, they made
some announcements and had every chapter there give an update on what
events they had upcoming. This included Atlanta, several chapters from
North Carolina and the Savannah chapter. I believe every chapter in SC
was represented as well.
There were prizes for the
oldest bike, oldest biker, longest hair, most tattoos and a few others.
Everyone had fun, got to meet new people, found out what was happening
in nearby STAR chapters and had some good food. It was a very successful
event and I am glad we were represented there.
If you were unable to make
the ride, or just skipped it...you missed a good one. Spring is
here...it's riding time. We are fixing to get busy and we need your
involvement. The next ride to Chattanooga should be a good one. Then we
have the FTC truck...we really need a good turnout for this one. Next
thing you know it is May with a trip to Little White House, a
multi-chapter picnic and then our Andersonville/Memorial Day event. Hope
to see EVERYONE at as many of these rides and events as possible.
