July 25, 2009 Meeting point was the
Flying J in Temple. Before leaving we had some breakfast and finally
headed out about 10:30. The weather was cool for July on the ride to the
Flying J but was very nice when we left. We headed West on Hwy 78 to
AL281 with a brief stop to stretch our legs, On 281 we stopped at an
overview and then on to the park, We took a circle around the park while
we waited for the restaurant to open, Then on to lunch, This being the
highest spot in Alabama the restaurant has a beautiful view with a nice
patio. One can see what seems like forever. We then headed out the park
on an unnamed road that has may curves and some shade, It was starting
to get warm. This road leads up to AL 21 which we took north to I20 and
back east.
(Thanks to Rick Campbell for leading this ride and for providing the
write up. Thanks to Malon for the pictures.)
