We always schedule short rides this time of year anticipating cold weather and often rain. However, this day, less than a month from Christmas and two days after Thanksgiving, was a day of clear blue skies and temperatures in the high fifties at ride time...and even warmer after lunch.

Four bike gathered at AMW at 10:30. Kickstands were up and we were rolling out at 11:00. The ride to Beef O'Bradys was short. It is only about then miles and only took about fifteen minutes. It was very pleasant and only made you want to ride more.

After arriving and parking the metal stallions we strode inside and rounded up a few tables for the eight of us there. There were the six who left from AMW plus two who rode in and met us there. We had some good food and did as much catching up from the last ride as we could. There was turkey talk from Thanksgiving, football talk on this rivalry weekend, and more.

After dining on something other than turkey we paid our tabs and headed back outside. A small group of three bikes took off on an adventure and the rest of us headed home.

Malon led the group headed out to rack up a few miles on this beautiful day. His report follows:

There were only three of us that went on after lunch namely, Malon and Cindy, Rick Curtis, and Preston.  We headed up East Cherokee from the restaurant to Ball Ground Highway (Rte 5) in Canton.  Then we went through Ball Ground and on to Jasper.  In Jasper we picked up 136 and headed for the mountains.  The weather was fantastic and we even had safe encounter with a mama deer and her does.  We then headed on to Dawsonville for a pit stop.  At that juncture, we split up and went our own ways.  Preston took highway 9 south and Malon, Cindy, and Rick headed over to 400 where Rick went south and Malon and Cindy went to visit some relatives.  It was a great day and we wish more could have taken advantage of the weather.

All in all a great day. Everyone enjoyed what riding they did whether it was a short trek to eat or the ride to Jasper afterwards. I am sure everyone wished they could have ridden even more than they did. However, it was great to get together and fellowship a little.

The next event is the Christmas party. If you are a member of the chapter, PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND. It does not matter how much you have ridden this year. This is your chance to get together with everyone and catch up. The party if very informal. We want to see all our STAR family there, so if all possible, please come. Details will be emailed out soon.
