We met at Atlanta Motor World under cool, (51 degrees), and cloudy
skies. 5 bikes and 6 riders left at 10 AM as the sun was finally
beginning to appear.
Rick led us down Old Milton Parkway into Gwinnett County
then followed many side roads to take the scenic route to US 78 for a
short break at Quick Trip.
It was an uneventful ride with the exception of discovering what
appeared to be telephone wires hanging down in the middle of the road
bringing us to a quick stop to find an opening for us to ride through.
At least they were not power lines. John took over the lead at QT, with
Sharon navigating, and we rode down US 78 to GA 11, past the fall
festival in Monroe and ended up at the Blue Willow Inn. By the time we
got there the temperature had risen to around 60 degrees but the wind
made it feel a bit cooler. We were seated immediately as the Blue Willow
was not very busy and enjoyed a great buffet lunch (thanks Doug for the
coupons). After a return to the buffet for dessert we gathered in the
parking lot for the return trip. Jason and Georges needed to make a
quick return so they headed for I-20. Rick led the rest of us back to
120 where he headed home while John, Sharon, and Marty headed for Cobb
County getting home around 3 PM. Great ride with a nasty headwind all
the way home.
(Thanks to John Saari for the write up and pictures)
Even though the weather is cooling, we still have lots planned for
the remainder of the year. We will visit a few local eateries. If it
gets too cold you can always come in the cage. It's all about getting
together and enjoying friends. Also, remember the Christmas Party in
December.
