April 19, 2008 Things
looked a little iffy on Friday night. The weather forecast called for
rain early Saturday and during the night it arrived. Saturday morning
found the skies cloudy and threatening and the ground wet, but, for once
the got the prediction correct and as the morning went by so did the
clouds. By noon it was sunny and reasonably warm. By afternoon it was
beautiful with just a little wind every now and then.
Doug fired up the grill around 11 am and by the time
the first hamburgers and hotdogs were ready, so were the people. Doug
pretty much stayed on the grill from 11 until about 3pm when we ran out
of food. Maria and Teresa did the wrapping and serving. Atlanta Motor
World was footing the bill for the food so everyone ate up. We had the
dogs and burgers as well as some chips and cold drinks.
Star Motorcycles had the trailer there with bikes as
promised and they stayed busy all day with rides going out about every
hour. Usually when a ride came in they headed straight for the food and
drinks. It kept us busy all day.
Several members came by to say hey, ride a bike and
talk a while. Several members for Stone Mountain came by as well. All in
all it was a good day. We got to visit with friends, ride some bikes and
most importantly raised some money for Feed the Children. As of this
writing the tally isn't complete, but it should be somewhere between
$400 and $500.
We will have a ride next weekend so keep a check on
the web site and your email for more information. Plan on meeting at AWM
at 9 am. We will roll out at 9:30 am.
