11, 2007 The day started out beautifully. Leaving home, the sun
was out and the temp was already in the 50's. For me a light jacket
sufficed. Like most everyone, I had been waiting for our first real ride
in over a month and was very glad to see the sun and the warmer
temperatures.
As I turned the corner heading into Atlanta Motor World, I saw that
everyone else wanted to ride as much as I did. The turnout was great. By
the time we left we had ten bikes and 14 riders.
With the weather being so nice and everyone itching to ride, we let
Mitch lead us on a wandering route from Alpharetta to Snellville.
Traffic was light and the weather warming by the minute. It was very
temping to just keep riding and forget about the food.
We arrived at Red Robin about thirty minutes later than planned,
having almost given in to the temptation just to ride. But the stop was
well worth it. We jumped at the chance to sit outside and enjoy the
weather even more. It was a large group. Several people met us there and
by the time we were finished we had 22 adults and 3 children. We took
our time and enjoyed being outside and being with each other. When the
food was served, everyone was apparently hungry, because it got quiet
for a while. But, once the food was gone, the conversation restarted and
once again we were a loud and roudy crowd...just like a bunch of people
on bikes should be.
Finally, we decided we would let the restaurant have their tables
back, just in case anyone else wanted to eat outside (We had every seat
out there). At this point we headed in several different direction after
saying our farewells. Some headed their separate routes home and a few
of us decided we just had to do a little more riding.
Once again we let Mitch lead us on a twisted tour of the countryside.
I don't know if he knew where he was going or just turned onto a new
road whenever the mood struck him, but he did it right. It was a
fantastic ride on some great roads. The scenery was beautiful and the
weather just could not be beat. It didn't seem like it had been long
enough but we eventually pulled into an empty parking lot to say our
goodbyes and head home.
It had been a great day. I thought getting out and riding would
satisfy me for a few weeks, but you know what.....now I just want to
ride more !! Thankfully the next ride is just around the corner. BE
THERE.
