January 01, 2007 If the
turnout for our Annual Polar Bear ride is any indication of the coming
year, it is going to be a great year. Twenty four people turned out at
Bugaboo Creek in Alpharetta on a "balmy" New Year's Day. I'm thinking we
need to change the name of this ride, because for the third year in a
row, it wasn't fit for Polar Bears...much too warm.
It was a little cool early in the day, but for
January, temps in the mid 40's is not polar bear weather. But, no one is
complaining because it makes for great riding weather...and after all,
this is a motorcycle group.
Everyone
met at Bugaboos. I think our group alone gave the restaurant about half
of lunch time business for the day. We did our usual thing and strung a
bunch of tables together and became one big happy family. Various
discussions were carried on around the table as we ordered and waited
for our food. And, as usual, once the food arrived the restaurant got a
lot quieter.
After everyone had their fill we assembled in the
parking lot for a group picture and some brief discussion of the
upcoming year. The main topic being, "Where are we going to ride this
year?". A few ideas were thrown out but overall, WE NEED SUGGESTIONS. In
short time everyone headed towards home riding together in groups and
splitting off as needed.
It looks like its gonna be a banner year for the
chapter. Everyone needs to attend as many rides as you can. We are going
to have some great rides, eat a lot of good food and have a lot of fun.
You never know what you might miss!!
