The annual trip to Madison and the Chop House resulted in the best
turnout in the last three years. It turned out to be a beautiful day.
Leaving home in the morning was rather cool. The thermometer was reading
fifty, but riding from home to Atlanta Motor World was a lot cooler than
that. It felt more like the very low forties. It was cold. But, as the
sun brightened the day it also warmed the day.
The ride to Madison was very nice. Doug led us on some beautiful
country backroads. It was getting warmer by the minute, the fall colors
were noticeable in the trees, the road was good....it was just a very
relaxing and enjoyable ride. By the time we reached the Chop House it
was time to eat. They provided us with a table in the back room so we
had some privacy. Everyone ordered and ate. It was good (as it always
is). The fellowship and conversation during and after the meal was
great.
Finally we decided we needed to get up from the table, but we didn't
go far. It was gorgeous outside and Madison is a fantastic town, so we
spent a little time exploring the town, doing a little shopping and
spending a little money. With the days getting shorter, we headed out
for home before too long so everyone could get home before the dark and
cold set in.
It had been a very good day. Everyone had a good time, got to do some
fall riding, and ate some good food. It was a shame it had to end. The
fall and winter months shorten the days and therefore shorten our time
of sharing with our STAR family. The rides grow shorter. The weather
gets colder. But, the warmth and fellowship of being with our extended
family remains. There is really nothing like it.
Hope to see you on the next ride.
