What started out as a cold blustery day evolved into a reasonably warm
and sunny day with temperatures very nice for riding.
We met as planned for breakfast at Southern Skillet in Roswell. There
was a mix of bikes and cars. Oddly, all two up riders were in cars and
the one ups on bikes....wonder what that means?....anyway.....We all
gathered round a table, placed our orders and received a really good
breakfast. Those who came on the bikes had a chance to warm up and the
rest of us seemed a little smug that we were in our warm cars. After
breakfast we had a little meeting about some of the upcoming events for
the year, then headed out for the motorcycle show.
The weather was gradually warming and a couple more members on bikes
met us at the show. The show was good. About the same size as last year
and lot different from when I started going 12 years ago. It is a little
more refined now. The crowd not so rough. Fewer leather vendors and lot
more bike vendors. There was plenty to see and do. We walked the exhibit
hall, pretty much staying together as a group but each able to satisfy
our own interests. We ran in to friends and acquaintances along the way.
We had fun and most departed with some cash before it was over.
By early afternoon everyone was hungry so most of us headed up the
road to a Cracker Barrel for some lunch. Now, sitting at the table the
people of bikes were a little smug because they were riding in the now
warmer sunny weather while the rest of us were cooped up in our four
wheel cages....but that's the weather in Atlanta...especially at this
time of year....heater on in the mornings and the air is on in the
afternoons.
We all had a great time, regardless of transportation. If you weren't
able to make this one, we hope we see you at the next one.
