With the shorter days and the cooler weather, we planned this ride as a shorter ride. We met at 10:30 with kickstands up about 11:00. This allowed the weather to warm a bit. By the time we left it was comfortable, the sun was out and the skies were clear. The drought of '07 has been bad in a lot of ways, but it provided us with ample opportunities to ride.

It was almost a shame that the Flying Machine at Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville was so close. The weather was really nice enough to really do some riding. However, we had to keep in mind that this time of year provide very short days and once the sun disappears it gets cold quickly.

The turnout was fairly good. We left AMW with 9 bikes and 15 riders. We took a route that wandered a little. Like I said...it was a great day to ride. We passed through the affluent north Fulton area, passing Country Club of the South and similar developments. The houses were beautiful, but more importantly it was a very good ride. Briscoe Field is off of GA 316 in Lawrenceville, so despite our best efforts we arrived in about an hour.

The restaurant was fairly busy, but were very hospitable to us and set up in a room of our own. Service was good and the food even better. Everyone was pretty hungry by the time we arrived and we wasted no time in quenching our desire for food. It was a great meal, with lots of conversation. Preston Howard's son and his family came over and ate with us. Everyone had a really good time. After everyone was fed, we just sat and visited for a while. No one was in a hurry to leave.

Eventually however, the time came to leave. Everyone said their goodbyes at the bikes and we were each on our way splitting into several smaller groups as much as possible.

--------------------------

One of the things I love about this time of year is the feeling of family. This is a time of year when we are more aware of family and friends. It is hopefully a time when we all reflect on the people around us. It is a great time to get together and enjoy each other. We will have some kind of ride the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We have our Christmas party on December 8, and on New Years Day our Polar Bear Ride. Three great chance to be with our extended family. Hope to see everyone at one of these events.

Finally, Thanksgiving will come and go before well all can meet again. I personally am so very thankful that I am a part of this group. We (all of us) often refer to it as our extended family...and that is so very true. Everyone in this group is like a brother or sister to us. It means so much and is so much fun to be able to ride with each other and have the good times that we have. We are very blessed to be able to do this thing we do. I want to thank each of you for letting us ride with you, for letting me do this web site and for being our friends....our family.....God Bless.

Happy Thanksgiving
