Date:  January 14, 2007

I had been watching the weather forecast all week long. I really needed a ride and the weather needed to co-operate. Well...it did. Leaving home the temp was already above 50. That's really warm for the middle of January. Its a little cool on the bikes, but very bearable.

Everyone met up at Atlanta Motor World as usual. The turnout was really good. We had 10 bikes and 13 rider ready to hit the road. We left pretty close to on time. We wandered through North Fulton and Cherokee Counties making our way over to I75 and GA20. Stopping at the Shell station there we picked up Ed and Gwen Barber from Chapter 285 in Rome, as well as more 111 members. Leaving the station we had 12 bikes and 17 riders. We went from there through Cartersville, up to Rome and the over to Cedar Bluff. The weather was warming by the minute and many of us shed our coats.

We arrived at lunch time as planned. The wait for tables was relatively short considering the size of out group.  We ended us spread across four tables. For those of you who have not been to Fibbers, you missed some really good food. Fibbers is an all-you-can-eat buffet. It is country cooking at its best. The selection of meats, veggies and deserts is unbelievable. I'm pretty sure everyone found something to their liking. And believe me....it was all good.

We couldn't find a place to nap with our full bellies, so, since it was so nice...the temp was now in the high 60's....we decided to ride. Little River Canyon was only 18 miles up the road, so the majority of the group decided to pay the park a visit. A few people needed to get back home. Thirty minutes later, we were looking at the beautiful Little River Canyon Falls. It really is beautiful.

After a little talk and some quick sight seeing, we decided we needed to head back and beat the sunset and accompanying cooler temps. As is our usual practice we headed home with people splitting off at appropriate places for their journey home. We ended up getting home just after dark and it was still pretty warm.

It was a great day and a great day of riding. If this is any indication of what 2007 is going to be like, then bring it on. I anxiously look forward to the next ride...the friends, the food, the good times and the riding. If you were unable to make this ride, try to make the next one. We missed those of you who were not there.
