Date: August 25, 2007

After the scorching hot weather of the last couple months, we got a little reprieve for the ride. The temp when the kickstands went up at 10:00 am was in the low eighties. There was some cloud cover and some darker clouds off in the distance threatening rain. All in all, it was a lot cooler than it had been.

Today we were headed for Chatsworth and Edna's Diner. Plans were to take a fairly direct route and arrive for an early lunch. Basically we headed out 140 to 411 and into Chatsworth. Many of us had plans to attend the wedding reception for Preston and Carmi later that day and therefore had a little bit of a time restraint. The ride was very nice. It was a great route. The threat of rain disappeared but the cloud cover stayed for the trip up and kept everything pleasant.

Arriving at Edna's were were met by Rick and Barbara Campbell from the Cartersville Chapter and former 111 members. Edna's was waiting on us and gave us a table in the back dining room all to ourselves. Their service was outstanding, which matched the food. There was a wide variety of things to choose from on the menu and I think between us, we tried it all.  The staff was very friendly and added to the great time we had. Mitch got some extra attention and was given a copy of the menu to take home and some plastic silverware by the servers to make sure he didn't pocket the real utensils. (You had to be there to appreciate that one). It was all in fun and everyone, including the servers got a big kick out of it.

After eating we did have a short discussion about the upcoming rides. There is a lot to do in the next month or so. Make sure you check the calendar and watch your emails for details.

It was time to get on the road and head home. The sun was out full force now and it had definitely heated up. We headed out towards Elijay, Dawsonville and points south. We made one quick stop for gas shortly after leaving the restaurant. Before we knew it we were at GA 400 and heading in separate directions.

It had been a great ride. We had some very good food. We enjoyed each other and had some hearty laughs in the process. It was well worth the effort.
