March 12, 2006 Can you
believe it !? It was 80+ in the afternoon and sunny all day....and it's
only mid-March. We had a GREAT turnout. We ended up with a total of 15
bikes and 25 riders. Even the morning air was warm. A light jacket
sufficed for the early hours and in the afternoon it was t-shirts and
sunburned arms and faces.
We had three new bikes join the usual zoo crew along
with a few of our more infrequent riders. We want to extend a very warm
welcome to Fred and Celeste Wiles, Bob Czerniak, and Joan Hug (riding
with Bill Sanders). We also picked up Sam and Joyce Foster at the Smith
House. It is our hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and will be back
to ride with us again.
From Atlanta Motor World we made our way up to the
Smith House for lunch. Arriving in time to beat the crowds. The food was
fantastic. You can't beat the Smith House for southern family style
eatin'. Ham, roast, fried chicken, mashed taters, green beans, creamed
corn, and a ton more. If you left there hungry it was your own fault.
After that great meal we did some ridin'. We headed
out of Dahlonega into the mountains to see the beautiful north Georgia
scenery and yes....to hit the twistys. The weather was great, the
scenery was great, the fellowship was great. After our nice leisurely
ride, we ended up in Helen, where we dismounted for a while to get some
refreshment and do a little shopping. Finally, we hesitantly decided day
was done and plotted our routes home.
All in all, it was a very satisfying day. Then again
it left me wanting more more more. Hope to see everyone on the next ride
....in the wind.....
