As we assembled for the ride, it was very apparent that fall was here. The air was noticeably cooler and the wind was a little brisker. The forecast was for a cloudy day with a possibility of rain later in the day. Turnout was pretty good. We had eleven riders show up. We hit the road pretty much on time and headed towards Social Circle.

Mitch, our road captain, led us on a nice leisurely ride. As we headed out of the dealership and headed to the east we immediately faced dark clouds. We wandered and rambled across the Cumming, Suwanee, Buford area heading towards Winder. The sky would clear and then cloud up. It became a definite pattern as the day went by. The temperatures remained cool all day. We got a little mist on the windshied around Braselton, but never any rain.

In Winder we took a break, got a little refreshment and stretched our legs. We talked a little. Being a Tennessee fan I was a little giddy from Tennessee's crushing victory over UGA yesterday. Oddly, not many people shared my enthusiasm !!

Getting back on the bikes we headed toward Social Circle. About an hour later, we pulled into the restaurant parking lot. Reservations were for 12:30 and we were about 15 minutes early. Great timing and a great route by Mitch.

This ride was about Blue Willow Inn, and if you didn't make the ride, you missed a relly great meal. Blue Willow is in an old southern home in Social Circle. Every room of the house has been turned into a dining area. We ate upstairs in what was once probably a bedroom. The buffet was set up in the upstairs hallway. We had everything from tossed salad to peel and eat shrimp, soups, roast beef to fried chicken, and desserts from pecan pie to banana puddin'. Blue Willow is rated as one of the best southern restaurants in the state and in the southeast.

After our meal a few people headed to the gift shop. The rest of us hung out around the fountain and talked. It was the closest we could come to a nap after a great meal. After shopping was done, we reluctantly headed back to the bikes to ride home.

By now the sun was overtaking the clouds. The temperature had climbed to about 70 and the threat of rain was greatly reduced. We rode about 30 minutes up the road to a gas station where we refueled and said our goodbyes. We headed out and slowly bike by bike we peeled off and each headed toward their own home.

It had been a good day. Good weather. Good food. Good ride. Good friends. What more could you ask for on an autumn Sunday?

As always....Those who missed this ride, missed a great ride, great weather, fantastic food, and most importantly good friends.

Be sure to be there next time.....you never know what you might miss.....
